The newly inducted members of the 2015-2018 Board of Directors of the UP Alumni Association got together last August 1, 2015, Saturday, at the La Belle Brasserie of the Tagaytay Highlands Golf Club House in Tagaytay City. They discussed their plans for the programs and projects of the UPAA for the next three years until the end of June 2018.
The planning session was presided over by new UPAA President and Alumni Regent Ramon M. Maronilla, with most of the new UPAA directors in attendance, namely: First Vice-President Oscar P. Palabyab; Second Vice-President Reynaldo C. Laserna; Third Vice-President Teodoro J. Herbosa; Secretary Pacita C. Gavino; Treasurer Amroussi T. Rasul; Auditor Romeo D.C. Nones; PRO Neil Andrew N. Nocon; Directors Yolanda Bello-Pajaro; Louis C. Biraogo; Feliciano G. Calora, Jr.; Andrew Byron V. Co; Fernando B. Malveda; Emmanuel T. Mangosing; and Leticia De Ocampo-Elegado.
The directors were given their respective assignments in the various UPAA standing committees, i.e., Executive Committee (ExCom); Elections; Ways and Means; Homecoming; Alumni Council; Alumni Awards; Membership Development; Public Relations; Finance; Alumni Institutes and Seminars; Scholarships; Projects Development; Information Technology; Legal Matters and Electoral Reforms; Documentation; Canteen and Food Services; Ang Bahay ng Alumni Management; Public Issues; and Permanent Endowment Fund.
The UPAA program of activities for next three (3) years is divided into four groups. Under Continuing Projects are: the Annual UP Alumni Council Meeting; Annual Alumni Homecoming; Annual Distinguished Alumni Awards; Annual Yearbook Publication; Annual Chapters Meeting; Regional Alumni Institutes; Scholarship Fund; Management of Ang Bahay ng Alumni; Representation in the UPAA Hostel and Services (UPAA Canteen/Food Services); Lifetime Membership Campaign; Public issues: “Kapihan ng Bayan sa UP”; and Maroon Pride Varsity Magazine.
The second group, Carried-Over Special Projects, includes: the UPAA Permanent Endowment Fund; Improvement of the UPAA Website; Updating of the Alumni Database and Directory; UPAA Centennial Coffee Table Book and UPAA Pictorial History; Improvement of Ang Bahay ng Alumni, including Installation of an Elevator and Extension of the Stage; and the UP-led Assistance Initiative for the ASEAN Integration.
The third group, Affiliated Projects, has the “Botika ng Alumni” project of the UP Alumni Cooperative (UP-ACO); while the fourth group, Proposed Projects and Events, embraces: Ang Bahay Events, such as hobby lessons, networking socials, fellowships; Arts and Culture Events; Establishment of Alumni Career Services; and Establishment of a Corps of Alumni Volunteer Experts.
