Behn was the immediate past First Vice-President (2010-2012) of the UP Alumni Association, which honored him with a Lifetime Distinguished Achievement Award last June 22, 2013, at the UPAA Centennial General Alumni-Faculty Homecoming and Reunion at Ang Bahay ng Alumni and the UP Theater in UP Diliman.
During the UP Centennial in 2008 and for several years thereafter, Behn took charge of the presentations at the annual UPAA Homecoming and Reunion, as well as other special cultural presentations sponsored by the UPAA.
A multi-awarded director-actor-playwright, Behn had often been at the forefront of cultural presentations in the country since 1967, including the Martial Law years, when his performances were described as cultural activism. Some of his prestigious awards and scholarships were: East-West scholarship, Rockefeller grant, CLSU cultural award, Aliw Award for Best Director, Palanca playwriting award, Patnubay ng Sining – Lifetime Achievement Award (Manila), CCP Centennial 100 Outstanding Artists of the Century, and Patnubay Award (Hawaii).
Behn taught at the University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and Philippine Christian University. He also lectured in schools in Metro Manila and other major cities.
