The UPAA is fortunate to have Didi serving on his second consecutive term as Member of the Board of Directors. He is without question one of the country’s authorities on pest management, as well as fertilizer development for turf and ornamentals.
Since 1982, Didi has been President and General Manager of PESTCON Pest Management and General Services, Inc. He took a special course in Applied Stored Products Entomology at the Tropical Products Institute in Slough, England (March-May 1982).
A well-known expert in the trade, he has been serving as Executive Director of the Crop Protection Association of the Philippines since 2010. For his expertise on ozone-depleting methyl bromide, he has held and is still holding many key positions in industry associations, such as: Member, Methyl Bromide Committee (MBTOC), UNEP (since 2006); Over-all Consultant (monitoring usage of methyl bromide), Philippine Ozone Desk – Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources (2006-2007); National Consultant (phase-out of methyl bromide), Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (2004); Seminar Director/Coordinator, Phil. Association of Certified Pesticide Applicators (since 1995); Program Designer and Trainor, Agricultural Extermination and Fumigation (since 1987). He has also designed and conducted Certificate Courses for Agricultural and Household Pesticide Applicators, Exterminators and Fumigators, used by the FPA for licensing and accreditation since 1986.
In the Pest Control Association of the Philippines (PCAP), Didi was Seminar Director/Coordinator in 1986-2004, serving as its President in 1993. In the Phil. Association of Professional Fumigators, Inc. (PAPFI), he was elected President for 1995-1996, and since 1998 has been its Seminar Director/Coordinator. In the Pest Management Council of the Philippines (PMCP), he held office twice as President (1989-1990, 1994-1995), but accepted the Vice-Presidency for 1999-2000.
Outside the industry, he became involved in social development as Executive Director of the War Against Poverty Foundation (1993-2002).
Didi has received awards from the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (1996); Pest Control Association of the Philippines (1997); and Pest Management Council of the Philippines (Achievement Award, 2000).
