The UP Alumni Council, the advisory body of the UPAA composed of past and present Regents, University officials, deans and directors, UPAA directors, UPAA chapter officers, and alumni awardees, met on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Ang Bahay ng Alumni at the Diliman campus, Quezon City, one day before the UPAA Centennial Alumni-Faculty Homecoming and Reunion.
This year’s Alumni Council had the theme “Bagong Siglo, Bagong Sigla – Balik-Tanaw, Tugon sa Bagong Hamon,” a takeoff from the UPAA Centennial Theme, “Bagong Siglo, Bagong Sigla.”
UPAA President and Alumni Regent Ponciano E. Rivera, Jr., welcomed the members of the Council; and UP President Alfredo E. Pascual delivered the keynote address. A panel discussion and forum followed, with presentations by the principal discussants Dr. Ester A. Garcia, President of the University of the East and former Chair of the UP Board of Regents; and Dr. Elvira A. Zamora, Vice-President for Development of the University of the Philippines.
Based on the discussions, several resolutions were drafted for presentation to and action by the alumni during the General Alumni-Faculty Homecoming and Reunion the following day, June 22, 2013, at Ang Bahay ng Alumni and the UP Theater. The Council adjourned at 12:30 PM.
